There are some big Premier League games on TV this weekend, including the Manchester Derby and the Merseyside Derby. We’ve tips for those games, as well as tips for West Ham vs Chelsea, and Southampton vs Arsenal.
West Ham vs Chelsea (Saturday 12.30, Sky Sports)
West Ham 13/2, Draw 7/2, Chelsea 8/15
It remains to be seen as to whether David Moyes can drag West Ham out of the relegation zone, and it’s no surprise to see Chelsea at long odds-on to take three-points, despite the fact West Ham have won 2 of their last 3 home games against Chelsea. However, the strongest statistic is that there’s been 3 or more goals in each of the last 5 matches between the two teams, whilst there’s also been 3 or more goals in 5 of West Ham’s last 7 matches.
Southampton vs Arsenal (Sunday 12.00, BT Sports)
Betting Guide: Southampton 3/1, Draw 11/4, Arsenal 10/11
Arsenal won 2-0 in the league and 5-0 in the FA Cup at Southampton last season, though they had lost 4-0 and 2-0 on their previous 2 visits. That made it 7 of the last 8 games between the two-sides in which only one team had scored, and that bet looks better-value than trying to predict the result.
Liverpool vs Everton (Sunday 2.15, Sky Sports)
Liverpool 1/3, Draw 5/1, Everton 11/1
New Everton Manager Sam Allardyce has the chance to become an instant-hit with Everton fans if he can avoid defeat to Liverpool in his first Merseyside Derby in charge. However, it looks a tough ask with The Toffees having won just 3 points on their travels this season. Meanwhile, Liverpool are unbeaten at home this season, and have been in great form in their last two matches. However, with 6 of the last 10 Merseyside Derby’s resulting in draws – prices around 5/1 for Allardyce to secure a point for Everton look just too big to resist.
Man United vs Man City (Sunday 4.00, Sky Sports)
Betting Guide: Man United 12/5, Draw 5/2, Man City 9/7
Manchester United trail Manchester City by 8 points after just 14 games of the season but, even at this early stage, defeat for United will surely hand the Premier League Title to their neighbours Manchester City. However, as United have won just 1 of their last 6 home matches against City, with City having won 4 of those 6 matches – I’d much prefer to back City to show they’re the class-acts they’ve looked this season so far.
